Inter-Institutional Relations

The ASCIM is composed of members of differente ethnic groups, which requires the practice of an intercultural relationship as a basis for any decision. This intercultural contact is maintained mainly by regular visits of the department managers to the indigenous communities that are cooperating with the ASCIM. Any decision required in the context of the advisory work is made in dialogue with the leader of the community.

The inter-institutional relationship includes relationships with other non-profit associations and private organizations, as well as with municipal and departmental governments and the National Institute of the Indigenous, INDI. The ASCIM also has relations with international organizations, wich have participated in its development by providing moral and financial support since the beginning.

In the framework of inter-institutional relations with the national government, an agreement with the Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) was signed. This agreement formalizes the cooperation in supervising indigenous schools in cooperating communities, in some cases also schools in other communities, a work that has already been a significant part of the ASCIM for a long time.

There is also a permanent dialogue and, in a certain way, cooperation in the public health services. Our objective is to also sign a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPyBS), to coordinate the work in the health area of the cooperating communities with the ASCIM.

An agreement signed in 2022 between the Department of Neighborhood Cooperation of the colony Fernheim and the ASCIM is another example of relationships with institutions interested in improving the quality of life in the Central Chaco. The purpose of this agreement was to coordinate the supervisione of schools in the neighborhood of Fernheim. The ASCIM defined in its strategic planning (Plan 2040) that it will seek better cooperation with the Departments of Neighborhood Cooperation of the three colonies (Fernheim, Neuland and Chortitzer), exchanging knowledge and technology.

The ASCIM als maintains close contact with the partner German-Mennonite churches. One form of communication is the scheduled visits to the churches, where ASCIM collaborators inform about the advisory work in the indigenous communities and answer questions from the members. The relationship with the curches is significant because most of the employees of the ASCIM are members of these churches. The ASCIM receives suggestions from the church boards of suitable people they could hire to work for the ASCIM.
