ASCIM presents the Enlhet Yalve Sanga Artisanal Women Organization

On October 18, 2023, some employees from the Association of Mennonite Indigenous Cooperation Service (ASCIM) visited the Women's Craft Center of the Enlhet Indigenous Community. At the location, they were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Marina de Rempel, who currently oversees the Craft Center.

The Enlhet women have successfully created a diverse range of handmade products using a type of thread made from "Karandilla" palm, better known as the "caranday" palm, which grows in the Paraguayan Chaco. To promote and sell their crafts more effectively, the Enlhet women have joined forces and founded the "Enlhet Women Artisans Organization Yalve Sanga" (O.M.A.), with the support of "Redes Chaco."

The sale of their products has become a crucial source of income amid the drought affecting the region. Currently, their creations are marketed in Yalve Sanga, but Mrs. Marina de Rempel expressed her desire to expand their reach by accepting orders and exploring opportunities to sell in larger cities. This initiative not only promotes indigenous craftsmanship but also provides a livelihood for the women of the Enlhet community during challenging times.
