Mirta Pérez, the first Indigenous woman from Paraguay to earn a master’s degree in an English-speaking country, has returned to her home in the South American Chaco.
In this moving story, she shares how she broke the unspoken rules of her community in order to study abroad. Today, she guides her students to overcome their fears and to imagine a world beyond their village.
Join Mirta as she takes us through her classrooms, sheds light on the role of the Mennonites in the Chaco, and introduces the diverse Indigenous groups and languages of the region. Her journey shows how education can turn a woman into a bridge between two worlds.
