Drinking water

Written by

It is always a challenge to find drinking water in the central Chaco, especially for those people that don't have the possibility of gathering rain water in larger quantities, as in cisterns. Most of the villages have enough cisterns, but they are filled with pond water and so the water is not of the best quality. This is proven when patients arrive with diarrhea and vomiting.  The Health Department of ASCIM regularly presents workshops where the people are instructed how to treat their water so that it is good to drink. Also, the plan is to investigate various filter systems to be able to offer the population an economical water filter system.  The water is examined in laboratories for pathogenic organisms and measures are taken to eliminate them in order to have good drinking water all year round.
